Each week has 4 timed questions (pathology/ radiology/ ECG/ clinical image) focussing on the clinical pearls that separate consultants from registrars.
We utilises these twice during our training, the first time during the 'golden years' between exams where the focus is on knowledge acquisition and the second time for fellowship training where the timing is key.
If any educators would like to have access to the answers (in exchange for contributions), please contact us.
This section of the examination is designed to test candidates' abilities of recognition, interpretation of data and decision-making. Candidates are also assessed on consistency and the ability to interpret the broad range of investigations and clinical material as well as their ability to pass a single question..
Each question consists of a statement of background information, the "stem", and a visual information source, the "prop". The combined information provided by these will be examined with one or two questions, with the percentage marks allocated to each part clearly indicated. There may also be two separate props with a question relating respectively to each. The eight questions will include five core topic questions encompassing ECGs, plain radiology, paediatrics, trauma and pathology results, and three questions based on any topic relating to emergency medicine, which may include the five core topics.
